August George Amundson

August G. Amundson was born August 6, 1876, at Red Wing, Minnesota and passed to his rest on December 26, 1969, at the age of 93. A short time after his birth, August moved with his family to the area south of Walnut Grove, Minnesota, where he spent his childhood. May 10, 1901, was the date of his wedding to Emma Krogstad at Slayton, Minnesota. The Amundsons had four children: Adolph Amundson of Mankato; Irvin Amundson of Hutchinson; Mrs. Mabel Sheppard of Hutchinson; and Leslie Amundson of Saint Paul. All of the children are living. The Amundsons farmed for many years and in 1915 moved to Hutchinson in order to enter their children in the Seventh-day Adventist schools there. August also opened and operated a cabinetmaking shop in which he worked until just a few years ago. They were all members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Surviving besides his wife and children are: one brother, Charley Amundson of Tioga, North Dakota; thirteen grandchildren; 28 Great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild. Nine brothers and sisters and his parents, Ivar and Katerina Amundson, preceded him in death. Funeral services were conducted by the writer at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hutchinson on December 28, 1969. Brother Amundson was laid to rest in the Oakland Cemetery at Hutchinson, where he awaits the fulfillment of the promise of the resurrection.
