Myvon Louise (Parry) Polensky, 78, of Grand Rapids, MN, died October 20, 2014.

Myvon Louise (Parry) Polensky was born in Minneapolis, MN on November 16, 1935 to Ifor and Margaret Lucille (Bush) Parry, and passed away on October 20, 2014 in Grand Rapids, MN. Myvon spent her childhood in Minneapolis, MN living in various parts of the city while growing up. She attended Seventh-day Adventist elementary, and junior high schools and then Maplewood Academy in Hutchinson, MN, graduating in 1954 and attended one semester at Union College, Lincoln NE. She married Paul Polensky in 1959 in Minneapolis and then moved to Cohasset, MN in 1968 where she spent the next 15 years raising her 6 children. She moved to NC and was there 14 years before her return to MN in the early 2000’s to be nearer to her children and grandchildren. Myvon loved her Christian faith and was a lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist church and, with her love of music, she spent most of her life singing for church services and events, and teaching her children to sing, causing some pastors to call them the Polensky Family Singers. She also led a children’s choir at the Blackberry SDA Church School for a short while and directed small church choirs.

She was a member of the Sweet Adeline’s in Grand Rapids, MN in the late 1970’s and 80’s and was part of a Women’s Barbershop Quartet and Second Wind Harmonica Band. She also had her own music business for a while in North Carolina called Myvon’s Musical Memories, going to nursing homes and senior centers to play and sing the old songs.

Services will be held Sabbath, Nov 1, 2014 at the Grand Rapids Seventh-day Adventist church, 802 NE 1st Ave, Grand Rapids, MN at 3pm.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ifor and Margaret Parry; husband, Paul Polensky; and one daughter, Wendy Kay Polensky-Harm.

Myvon is survived by one sister: Lois Parry Weinkauf (Arnie); two brothers, Robert Parry (Iva Dawn) and Daniel Parry (Judith); four daughters: Jutta Karin Schultz (Lucky), Grand Rapids, MN; Christine Louise Albertson (Scott), Coon Rapids, MN; MaryJayne Polensky-Kehr, Woodleaf, NC; RuthAnne Polensky-Hemphill (Randy), Grand Rapids, MN; and one son, David Paul Polenksy (Ellie). She is also survived by 17 grandchildren: David Harm, Anna Harm, Ericka Schultz-Iverson (Jeffrey), Elizabeth Schultz (Adam Richmond), Adam Parry Schultz (girlfriend, Sarah Yuenger), Amanda Albertson-Adler (Aaron), Chase Albertson, Mikayla Albertson, Devin Polensky, Katie Polensky, Megan Polensky, Bradley Kehr, Victoria Kehr, Chauntae Polensky and Margaret Thomas and 4 great-grandchildren: Brody Iverson, Bonnie Iverson, Lillah Richmond and Alexis Richmond.

She is also survived by nieces: Becky Parry and Aden Parry Meyler (Ruairi); nephews: Robert Johnson (Diane), Greg Johnson (Kathy), Paul Parry (Jan), Theron Parry (Sigrid) and Rhys Parry (Barbie); grandnieces and grandnephews: Eoin Meyler, Niamh Meyler, Elenor Meyler, Kallman Parry, Cecily Parry, Drew Johnson, Lexi Johnson, Jordan Horner (Alejandra), Max Johnson, and Rachel Parry Spires; and one great-grandniece, Ella Horner.

Internment will be at Wildwood Cemetery in Cohasset, MN after the service.
